Welcome to October!  I can't believe we've been in school almost a month already!! The children are off to a great start and have really adapted well to their new school and environment! They know the routine already and have gotten comfortable with me and each other. We have already learned many new things, made many friends  and are having lots of fun!! I am extremely proud of their progress so far!!  It is wonderful to have them all part of the Corpus Christi family!
We have a very busy month ahead of us. We will be learning about fire safety during Fire Prevention Week and will be visited by a fireman!  We will also be celebrating Halloween on the 31st with a parade and party! Family and friends may come to watch the parade ( more information to follow). Your child will come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes. After our parade, we will have our party!! It will be lots of fun for the children!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

WELCOME

Welcome to PreK-3B!! Hope everyone had a fantastic summer!!  It's hard to believe how fast the summer went, but here we are already in September and ready to embark on a new school year!! I look forward to meeting all of you if I haven't met you already, and I am eagerly anticipating meeting my new group of children!!

I am sure there is probably some anxiety on your part as a parent, as well as your child. It is a normal feeling, and there will definitely be some adjustment for your child. For many, this is the first time away from their parents for an extended period or in a school setting. It is not uncommon for there to be tears (possibly yours as well, LOL). Separation at this age is very difficult for most children. The first few weeks may be difficult, but eventually the children get into a routine and feel comfortable. At the beginning in order to make the transition smoother, please make your goodbyes to your child short. Please reassure them that you will be back to pick them up and that they will be ok. Please don't linger... if your child sees you, that sometimes makes it worse. Please know there is an adjustment period and sometimes it take time for a child to get used to the new environment. You will see a tremendous change in your child from September to June! You will be amazed at the transformation when you see your child in June performing at the end of the year show!!

I ask that you please keep that information paper that was in your packet for reference. It contains a lot of important information that you will need throughout the year. It covers a lot of material that you may need answers to. I suggest you keep it handy, perhaps on your refrigerator, to refer to it.

One of the most important things to know and remember is that you must label everything your child brings to school. That includes backpacks, lunchboxes, snack bags, sweaters/sweatshirts, jackets, etc. If your child is full day, you must label his/her small pillow and blanket, and put it in a large Ziploc bag (with handles) and label the bag as well.
If your child is staying for lunch, you must put snack and lunch in separate bags. Snack can be placed in a brown bag if that is easier. Each must be labeled with the child's name and either the word "Snack" or "Lunch" on it. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE SNACK BAG INSIDE THE LUNCH BOX!!  The reason for this is that the lunches are taken out by the aides in the morning and placed in the cafeteria, while the snack bags are left in their backpacks. This will help make the aides' job a bit easier, and will lead to less confusion for them as well as the children. I thank you in advance for your cooperation with this.
Also, if your child is going to aftercare, please label that bag as well with his/her name and the word "After Care" on it.  I suggest a small snack (1 or 2 small things) and a small juice box or small water bottle. Please no glass containers or sippy cups, which after awhile have a tendency to leak.

I look forward to a wonderful year ahead with your children!!
